Sensory Systems and Music Therapy

We have 5 sensory systems.  Students with autism often learn in a different way because of the way that they process sensory information.   Sometimes as a result, it affects their interaction and social skills.

Vestibular System and Proprioceptive System

Using movement and locations in the learning area can really help children who learn with these systems better, to remember concepts.  For example, if you are teaching sight words, have the children step on the correct answer of cards spread around the room or when teaching prepositions, have the child act out the concept!
